Sanae is here.
Welcome to “seed of happiness” website/blog!
I am originally from Nagoya, Japan.
My passion for learning about alternative, holistic medicine and plant-based macrobiotic nutrition began when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1993.
This illness challenged me to consider the relationships between my lifestyle, attitude, food choices, and how nature connects with my physical, emotional, and spiritual state.
I began learning more about natural, plant-based nutrition and recovered not only ovarian cancer but also a near-fatal car crash serious injured in 2001 and stage IV lymphoma cancer in 2017. Overcoming my emotional challenges (bulimia, addiction, codependency, etc.) since I was a child, cancer, and life-threatening injuries, I find “true myself” to be happy.
I love learning new things that help my being and physical matter and practice and share them with others. I make seasonal homemade artisan food like pickles (umeboshi plums, ginger pickles, nukazuke, and shallot pickles), miso, natto (fermented soybeans), medicinal infused herbal tea, oil, and tincture. DIY organic skin care products, organic indigo, other natural plants dye, and eco-natural crafts.
I appreciate growing organic vegetables, medicinal herbs, and native plants in my garden and foraging for the plants in the wild. I enjoy the art of calligraphy, drawing, watercolor, photography, sculpture, wood-block print, knitting, sashiko, natural dye, writing, playing ukulele, ocarina, yoga, hiking, swimming, and being with my husband and animal family.
I started to make organic homemade dog and cat food in 1995 and use animal communication to help them have healthy, happy lives.

I live with my husband, Eric Lechasseur, and currently reside in Santa Monica and North Fork, California, with our dogs and two rescued cats.
Through this website/blog, I hope to plant the seed of physical, intellectual, and spiritual happiness in as many lives as possible, if not in each person who connects with me.
